ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH, PART 3.

Blog Post numero 3. Another healing process brought straight from the wisdom of the Amazon Natives we have … Sananga!

I’m lying down on a soft mat in the beautiful Holistic space, the ambient sounds gently playing in the background like calming waves washing over my soul.

The qualified healer presents Sananga eye drops. *Switch the voice in your head to David Attenborough’s seductive tones*. This plant medicine is a tradition of the Yanawanwa Tribe, an indigenous group that is known as the legal guardians of the Amazon.

It’s known for healing both spiritual and physical ailments (good to know, due to years of abuse both body and mind are like a clapped out Escort – the car not the profession).

This plant medicine improves focus by clearing out distracting energies before going on a hunt – does going to the Co-Op later to buy dinner count? Probably not.

The music sounded even clearer, I felt part of something, like an inherent connection to the oneness of the world. A feeling of truth and trust, not that everything was going to be alright but that everything was alright.

I’m asked to lie down, eyes closed and he will apply the drops into the corner of my each eye. Then all I have to do is blink and let the Sananga do its thing. Oh yeah, Sananga also has the nickname ‘lightning in the eyes’!

It burns like fuck!! I’m told not to rub my eyes. Rub them!? I want to remove them with a spoon and give them a jet wash! Ever got muscle rub in your eye? Or lube?? Or glass??? It’s about the same - I’m told by a friend.

Those fuckers used this before hunting? I can’t see shit! If I was in that Tribe and given some of this before a big hunt (lions/tigers/anything that has the ability and desire to kill me) I’d have definitely shanked my Native pal Dave (probably not a traditional name) in the ass with my spear!

Now I don’t want to scare monger, I’d hate to discourage anyone trying this therapy after reading this post, obviously I’m trying to bring an element of humour and it’s significant to know I’m having all 3 medicines every month this year.

Here comes the good part (and shit, it’s good) … peace.

A clear head.

The thing I have been searching for most of my life. No thoughts, internal struggle, noisy dialogue or rambling or annoying intrusive thought patterns. Just empty.

This goes on for quite sometime till I’m asked how I’m feeling. I felt like I could have led there for weeks.

The music sounded even clearer, I felt part of something, like an inherent connection to the oneness of the world. A feeling of truth and trust, not that everything was going to be alright but that everything was alright.

After the effect I’d have gladly tipped the whole bottle of drops into my eyes without any fear or hesitation, which hopefully diminishes any fear I’ve reported about the slight initial sting.

Sananga is a stinger but true peace it’ll bring ya.

It’s a yes from me.

Peace, love and happiness Hummingbirds. Stay awesome.
